Singer, songwriter Susan Lainey has been performing professionally for over 30 years. As a teenager, she began performing at coffeehouses and churches, and jamming with other players to the folk, blues and country rock of the 60s and 70s. In 1995, she performed in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. Today she entertains at a variety of local venues, performing some of her original songs, (which number over one hundred), as well as some oldies and gospel hymns. A small sampling of her music can be found on her new CD, entitled simply “Susan Lainey,” which debuted in December of 2003.

Her songs have been described as “call[ing] forth images of singer Judy Collins and songwriter Karla Bonoff. They show a keen understanding of popular song forms from a gifted poet, as well.” (Judy Wallace, New Bedford Standard-Times, 3/30/03)

Ms. Lainey says, “Music has the power to connect people on a very basic yet spiritual level. In happy times, it uplifts and inspires us; in troubled times, it can console and even transform us. This music I make is a gift and I thank God for it everyday.
